![]() Final touchesGet your tickets now!BREABACH FILL THE BILLA very special evening's entertainmentLooking forward to Dec 2007 alreadyIndex THANK YOUby jennie macfie - 01:36 on 31 December 2007That was the best Drums and Rockets ever. Thank you to our funders Highland Council, Highland 2007, Scottish Arts Council and to everyone, especialy HIS, Mhairi Moffat, Doug at mp33 and Jon Beach at Fiddlers, who made it possible, who loaned anything from Heras fencing to drums and djembes, or donated time, effort, raffle prizes, glasses, all sorts of things - but above all to (in no particular order)Keef, Lara, Mark, Aaron and Olwyn of BOOOM! who work uncomplainingly in all weathers and whose fireworks and fire sculptures were "better than Edinburgh", as one happy spectator said. And Jali and Dan, of course. Mike Molleson for the drum workshops and managing the entire parade singlehandedly - and Lynn Molleson for aiding and abetting. And for bringing the girls along to dance. Lizzie McDougall for her storytelling workshop, and to Sunny and Shani for helping, and for dancing all night Carolyn, Mike, Geoff, Helen and Janet for tireless work in the bar, as always. Liam and Leo for being butlers to the manner born. Craig and the Limelight crew for the lights and sound. Nobody ever thinks about light and sound till they go wrong- and they didn't. More thanks for being calm and cheerful at all times. Chris, Amy and Jonny for warming everyone up at the beginning with a terrific ceilidh dance - we must get you back again soon. Breabach for keeping the crowd hotted up with a wee stunner of a set - please come back again! Gabriel Albuquerque for letting a breath of fresh, warm Brazilian air creep into the Blairbeg Hall with his beautiful guitar playing The mighty Orkestra del Sol who go from strength to strength. Memory of their wonderful performance last September was eclipsed by a hi-octane hour and a half of non stop musical magic which had the floor of the hall actually bouncing up and down as the audience danced and danced and danced and cheered and danced some more Artistic Director Conrad Molleson whose idea it all was in the first place, who has been the driving force ever since, throwing himself into everything with infectious enthusiasm, designing the posters, sorting out the musicians usually by calling in endless favours, cajoling friends and family to make the long trek North and pitch in, compering and playing bass - and who unfairly had to miss the party he'd worked for all year because of flu.. and finally to the audience for clapping and dancing and cheering us all on - without you none of this would happen. See you next year! PS Nessie sends her apologies for missing the parade. She will be fully repaired and spruced up for 2008. Add your comment |
